Wooden Club Fitness Class

A lesser known Victorian Age fitness training method, originating from India, is Wooden Club swinging. Using a pair of 1 pound clubs you will be guided through a series of linear and circular exercises that will utilize the muscles of the upper body. Practitioners often describe this training method as moving meditation and circular weight training.

Equipment

  • Come dressed for class, bring water, zippered duffel bag (for personal items), yoga mat, towel for perspiration, and bare feet (no shoes or socks allowed on the hardwood floors or the mats)
  • Wooden Clubs provided for each class and during Supervised Training

Classic Self-Defense Class

Using the foundation of early 20th century Military Combative systems, Classic Self-Defense established a set of core principles:

  • Techniques that are easy to learn
  • Learn to move for advantage
  • Use of simple techniques
  • Use a limited number of techniques
  • Stay Vertical, fight on your feet
  • Use of common and improvised weapons
  • Unarmed and short stick self-defense is taught using a logical and efficient method. Using a selection of proven techniques the student will quickly increase their self-defense ability.

Uechi-Ryu Karate

Uechi Karate is a unique Kung-Fu martial art derived from ancient Chinese Pangainoon Kenpo. A tiger, crane, dragon system, Uechi teaches in-close fighting, utilizing circular blocks, grappling, and concentrated counter-attacks as a practical way to defend oneself. Uechi is taught as a disciplined defensive art form, rather than as a competitive sport. The application to daily life is of prime importance where everyone who studies wins.
